WHY?
Because great images don’t just happen – someone has to capture them in real time. Whether it’s a slow pan, a quick tracking shot, or a steady handheld shot, the operator makes sure the camera moves in the right way to support the scene.
WHAT?
Carry out camera moves, adjust technical settings, control framing – always in close coordination with the director, DoP, and 1st AC (focus puller). Sometimes wearing the camera on the shoulder, sometimes putting it on tracks – but always in sync with the scene.
WHEN?
Throughout the entire shoot – from first rehearsal to final take. Especially during moving shots or complex setups with multiple axes or spontaneous action.
HOW?
With steady hands, strong coordination, a good eye – and a deep sense of timing and rhythm. Whether handheld, on a dolly, or using a rig, the camera operator makes sure the shot feels just right.
