ABOUT NEWMOTION

The film and television industry is changing. To stay vibrant and future-ready, it needs new access points and open pathways. Yet, those who want to enter the industry today often face closed doors—especially people without a film school education or personal connections. At the same time, many productions are looking for new, qualified professionals.

This is where NewMotion comes in. We open doors for everyone who wants to work in film but hasn’t yet found a way in. We bring together those eager to enter the industry and those who are already shaping it.

Through our job shadowing program, we give people without prior experience a direct insight into the world of film. Over three days, participants accompany experienced filmmakers in their daily work—without pressure, but with genuine proximity. They witness what happens behind the camera, discover a variety of professions, and gain a realistic picture of the industry. Listening, observing, asking questions, getting involved—this is how valuable insights and first connections are made.

Our website combines information, inspiration, and networking. It highlights the many roles in film beyond directing and acting, showcases different career paths, and connects newcomers, professionals, and productions. This creates a space for orientation and fosters new collaborations.

We believe that film needs more than one perspective.
Only a diverse industry can remain innovative, appealing, and competitive. In front of the camera, diversity in representation has already begun—now it’s time for that change behind the camera, too. That’s why we especially support people from marginalized groups who are still underrepresented in the film world. Their perspectives enrich and expand the stories being told.

NewMotion is Roshanak “Rosh” Khodabakhsh, Jorgo Narjes, Jennifer Stahl, Amelie Schulz, Maja Rubaj, Thao Nguyen and Nora Benariba.

NewMotion was founded by producers Roshanak “Rosh” Khodabakhsh and Jorgo Narjes and is jointly run by NewMotion GmbH and Produktionsallianz Campus GmbH. The project is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), the German Federal Film Board (FFA), Netflix, and Prime Video. Through entry-level, accessible programs, NewMotion makes it easier for people to enter the world of film and television.
