WHY?
Because music and film go hand in hand. The Music Supervisor makes sure the soundtrack supports the emotions, enhances key moments, and brings everything together into a cohesive whole.
WHAT?
Develop a musical concept for the film. Research, select, license, and integrate music. Work with composers, directors, and post-production teams. Handle budgets and legal processes. Oversee every music-related step in the process.
WHEN?
Usually during post-production, once the edit is in place – but often earlier, to lock in musical choices that might be used during filming.
HOW?
With a strong understanding of music, a feel for timing and emotion, great communication and coordination skills – and knowledge of licensing, rights, and film workflows. Music isn’t just background – it’s what gives the film its emotional heartbeat.
