WHY?
Because visual planning helps clarify creative ideas and tackle technical questions early. The storyboard becomes a shared visual reference for the director, camera team, and other departments.
WHAT?
Sketch scenes, visualize shots and movement, collaborate with the director and camera team, clearly represent perspective, mood, and flow—often also creating digital animatics or motion storyboards.
WHEN?
During pre-production—often before casting is complete. A good storyboard can help pitch a project internally or externally and identify challenges early on.
HOW?
With drawing skills, cinematic thinking, an understanding of storytelling, camera work and timing—and a feel for translating vision into execution. The Storyboard Artist helps the whole team “see” the film before the shoot begins.
